The High Weald Academy Celebrates GCSE Success
Staff and students are celebrating after securing the best ever GCSE and 6th Form results for The High Weald Academy.
Results were particularly strong in the core subjects of English, mathematics and science (with 67%, 74% and 75% receiving A*-C grades respectively) with almost 60% of students overall achieving five or more A*- C GCSE grades, including English and mathematics – showing continued success across the academy.
Speaking about the results, Principal Carrie Beech, who is also celebrating her first full year of headship at High Weald, said: “We are absolutely thrilled by the achievements of the students this year. As a small, rural, non-selective school in a largely selective area, our students have demonstrated fantastic levels of progress across a broad range of abilities.
“These results continue to demonstrate that the work of the students, staff and the wider family of schools in The Brook Learning Trust is paying dividends.”
Top performers from the academy included Stephanie Sloman who gained 5 A*s and 5 As and Onawa Skinner who gained 5A*, 3As and 2 Bs.
