High Weald Academy Easter 2017 Ski Trip to Foppolo, Italy
Take 2 schools, 27 students, 6 staff, 1 coach and 2 drivers and what have you got? A fantastic week’s skiing in Foppolo, Italy!
We set off on Friday 10th of February with our partner school, Barnwood Park Arts College from Gloucester, for our 19 hour coach ride to the Italian Ski resort, Foppolo. We arrived on Saturday afternoon with students having already made new friends on the bus and listened to “oohs!” and “ahhs” about how much snow there was, and after a well needed hot dinner, we were off to bed ready for our first day on the slopes.
Sunday morning, we are up and out with blue skies, sunshine and plenty of snow: A perfect first day!
As the week progressed so did the students and their skills on the mountain. They had amazing fun in their lessons, and even participated in a variety of other activities such as Pizza Night, fun and games, and of course the daily “Ski Wally” and “Ski Whizz” competitions. Even Mr Endicott completed his time in the suit and bunny ears after a cracking fall that all the students saw!
Speaking after the trip, Mrs Gabell said: “Our trip to Italy was absolutely fantastic and one to remember. The students were a joy to have on the trip and are a real credit to their families, as well as the academy.”
Photos and videos posted on the academy’s Twitter account received a great response, with lots of parents, relatives and friends logging on to find out what the students had been up to! Next year’s trip is already being planned and students have already had letters about this. If you would like any further information, please contact Mr Endicott.
