Sixth Form Celebrations at The High Weald Academy

The High Weald Academy students, staff and parents joined in the celebrations of this year’s Sixth Form exam results.

Students waited eagerly for the 10am window where envelopes were made available containing the all-important information which reflected two years’ work and the pinnacle marking the end of their compulsory education.

The academy is delighted to report that the vast majority of students have achieved the necessary grades to go on to their chosen post-18 destinations ranging from securing a place at university, engaging in apprenticeships and moving directly into employment.

Highlights include Ed Bushnell who gained impressive results in his A levels of an A grade in Geography and B grades in History and Maths.  Ed will be going to Kent University to study military history.  Sam Wigram, who achieved a grade B in History, a double Distinction* in Sport and a Distinction* in Public Services has an offer of a place at Brighton University to study sports’ journalism.  Rachel Le Saux obtained an A* in Art and Design, a B in Media Studies and C in English Language.  Rachel is taking up a place on the foundation course at the University of Creative Arts.

Particular congratulations go to the students who studied business studies BTEC, 100% of whom achieved Distinction* which shows exceptional progress.

Caroline Longhurst, Interim Principal commented: "I am delighted for our students who have worked so hard to achieve this well-deserved success.  This could not have been accomplished without the support of parents/carers and the commitment and dedication of The High Weald Academy staff who have encouraged, supported and inspired our students to do their very best."

The academy wishes the Year 13 students every success for their next steps and looks forward to maintaining links with them and to hearing about their future achievements.
