Co-Principals Caroline Longhurst and Nic Taylor are delighted to join the Year 13 and 14 students celebrating in their 2018 exam achievements at The High Weald Academy. “We are very proud of the commitment and hard work which sit behind each of the grades our students have achieved and we wish them every success in their futures which we are certain will be bright.”
Particular highlights for this year include the cohort of students who studied for the Maths in Context A Level with 50% of the class exceeding their target grades. The majority of students who followed a Level 3 Applied Science course also either achieved or exceeded their predicted grades. Early indications of our data analysis show positive value added scores for students studying academic subjects.
Individual recognition goes to Aoife Cooper, Callum Rhodes and George Saunders. Aoife has achieved a fantastic set of results with a B in Maths, Distinction * in Public Services and Merits in both Applied Science and Health and Social Care. “Since being at The High Weald Academy I have aspired to become a paramedic and achieving a Distinction *, two Merits and a B grade in a range of subjects has secured me a place at Canterbury Christ Church University to study Paramedic Science”.
Callum has also achieved great results with an A in Maths in Context, a Distinction * in Applied Science and D and an E in Psychology and Geography. George is quoted as saying “I am leaving with a Distinction * and a Merit and going onto an Apprenticeship in Primary Education”.
All of the students leaving The High Weald Academy Sixth Form have secured their chosen destination whether that be to a University, an Apprenticeship or into employment.
