GCSE Results 2018
The High Weald Academy is proud to be sharing in the celebrations with its students as they receive their GCSE results. The year group have worked hard to meet the challenges and demands of the reformed GCSES and there are many examples of students meeting or exceeding their expected grades across the subjects taken.
Particular praise goes to Kirsty Waters and Freddie Todd who both achieved an impressive portfolio of grades including exceptional performance in maths and combined science. Kirsty was awarded a grade 8 in maths and a grade 8 and 9 in the combined sciences which she was rightly very pleased about. She commented “They say that you get out what you put in. I certainly put in the hours of work and it’s paid off, as my results show”. Freddie gained a grade 8 in maths and two grade 9s in the combined sciences. Freddie was delighted with his results and said “Coming from a comprehensive school, I never thought that I would achieve what I have, but the determination of the teachers pushed me on the path to success. I do not regret my choice of secondary school at all”.
Co-principals, Caroline Longhurst and Nic Taylor, stated “Congratulations to our 2018 year 11 cohort on their achievements! It is great to see how the sheer hard work and determination has paid off and our thanks goes to the staff and parents for the relentless support and constant encouragement they gave to the year 11s both in the run up to and throughout the exams”.
All students are being supported to secure their chosen post-16 routes whether they are enrolling with a local sixth form provider or beginning an apprenticeship. The staff and academy council wish all of our recipients well for the future and we look forward to hearing about their ongoing successes.
