Our Story So Far

The High Weald Academy first opened its doors in the September of 2012 on a site with a long history of education provision. The academy has always been an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school serving the local rural population.

Since its opening in 2012 the academy has hosted many important visitors including Helen Grant our local MP, visiting teachers from Thailand undertaking a professional development opportunity with our Maths department and even Pixie Lott who came to open the new sports facilities in 2014.

There have been quite a few changes for the academy since its opening but one constant area of success of which we are all rightfully very proud is the school farm. We are incredibly fortunate to have a fully operational pastoral farm with numerous livestock many of whom were born on site. The farm is very well respected in the wider community and regularly achieves awards and placing positions at local agricultural shows and events. The farm is supported by a wide range of sponsors and run by Farm Manager Nick Cooper alongside his team of Young Farmers.

As well as agricultural success the academy has also seen students excel academically with individuals pursuing their dreams at top Russell group universities, as Apprentices with top firms like PWC and in local employment.

The High Weald Academy grows, adapts and thrives with each new cohort of students and we are very much looking forward to continuing that journey in our new buildings when the quality of the built environment will match the quality of the education received within.
