Post-16 at The High Weald Academy
News: Year 12 Provision at The High Weald Academy – September 2017
It is with regret that The High Weald Academy announces it will not be running a year 12 curriculum during the academic year 17/18. This decision has been made following careful consideration of the GCSE outcomes achieved by those year 11 students who had indicated an interest in remaining at THWA for their post 16 studies as well as matching their choices around what would make a coherent curriculum offer.
The decision to not run any post-16 courses in year 12 will have no impact on the academy’s ongoing commitment to the 6th form students moving into year 13.
Prospective students and their parents/carers were informed that the academy were in the process of reviewing their year 12 offer for September 2017 on GCSE results’ day, Thursday 24th August 2017 and advised to explore other options in relation to their post-16 studies. Staff at the academy will be working with students and their families to support their transition into other appropriate post-16 destinations.
The High Weald Academy assures all stakeholders that this decisive action is in the best interests of the students in question.
