Safeguarding is more than child protection. Safeguarding begins with promotion and preventative action which enables children and young people to grow up safely and securely in circumstances where their development and wellbeing is not adversely affected. It includes support to families and early intervention to meet the needs of children and continues through to child protection. At The High Weald Academy we take our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children and young people entrusted to our care seriously.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who has overall responsibility for child protection practice in school, as well as our designated person for looked after children is Mr Dan Lloyd, Assistant Principal. He is assisted by Mr Drew Greenall and Mrs Clare Sculley, who are also both DSL’s, and specifically trained in Child Protection.
If you have any queries or concerns about safeguarding, please contact Mr Lloyd or one of the safeguarding team on 01580 712754 or via the safeguarding concern form.
